Christ is in our midst! He is and ever shall be! So much has happened since I last wrote to you last Fall. In that newsletter, which we sent out snail mail, we shared with you our vision to grow the ministry by offering the students specific men’s and women’s Bible studies at both St. John’s College and the U.S. Naval Academy.

I also shared with you that I was to be ordained to the diaconate by His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, which took place on 14 December at St. Nicholas OCA Cathedral in D.C. Soon afterwards, my Matushka and I found out that we are expecting. Praise God!

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Him forever! Thank you for your prayers for my newly wed wife, Kristina (Krissy) and I. We were married May 24 and are gratefully beginning our new life together. At the same time, I have begun another year of Plebe Summer Ministry, which began the beginning of July. This is my fourth year ministering to the freshman class of midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy; it is a great opportunity to impact our future leaders with the truth of the Gospel and Orthodox Faith.

April 2009 Newsletter

I’m so pleased to report that God has been working through ACM in the lives of the students. Since the last newsletter, one student has been received into the Church and another has entered the catechumenate. In early March we went on a mission trip to Raphael House in San Francisco during St. John’s College’s spring break, and, upon returning, I got engaged. Thanks be to God!

Christ is born! Glorify Him! I wish you all a most blessed Christmas season and a blessed new year as well.

Christmas reminds me of how much I have to be thankful for and, thereby, of God’s love toward us seen foremost in the Incarnation of His Son and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am also so thankful for all of you who make this ministry possible that is by God’s grace having such an impact on the lives of so many students.

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Him forever! I hope this ministry update finds you well. Thank you for your much needed and faithful support of ACM. With the conclusion of Plebe Summer ministry in August another year of ministry has begun at both St. John’s College and the U.S. Naval Academy. One of our returning students, Harry Thompson Green has been received into the catechumenate. Harry is among the brightest and most gifted students to have come into the OCF and he will be a great asset to Orthodoxy in America. Praise God! We also have a new inquirer at the Naval Academy with whom I’m meeting weekly and one at St. Johns along with a whole new group of freshmen Orthodox.

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Him forever! I pray that this newsletter update finds you well. I keep all of our ACM supporters in my prayers. It has been a while since I last updated you on God’s work through ACM. Since the semester ended at St. John’s and the USNA I have been knee-deep in landscaping work, which I do to supplement my ACM ministry income. Having just completed my third and final project before a new year of Plebe summer begins, it seemed like a good time to finally update you on all that has transpired since I last wrote to you.

Christ is in our midst! I pray that you are well and I remember you in my prayers.

College ministry for me is a burden and a blessing: I see and experience every week the struggles and turmoil that goes on in many of our college-aged student’s lives. By struggle I mean the fight within them to prioritize putting Christ and His holy Church first in their lives, to live in accordance with the Faith in striving to glorify God. It’s extremely difficult in college to learn humility, to thirst for God, to see one’s need for God. Most college students are at that age when they think they are ‘invincible.’ And invincibility does not usually lend itself toward realizing one’s need or thirst for God.
